On Saturday, October 5th, Nikkei Place Foundation Sakura Gala celebrates Kizuna - meaning the bonds or connections between people - the intricate web of connections that brings hearts together, bridges generations, and fosters a sense of belonging.
The Sakura Gala is the signature fundraising event for the Nikkei Place Foundation. Your support for Nikkei Place Foundation ensures the sustainability of our operations and our work to raise funds for Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre and Nikkei Seniors Health Care & Housing Society.

EMCEE
We are very excited to announce that our Sakura Gala emcee is Tetsuro Shigematsu, acclaimed filmmaker, comedian, Canadian radio broadcaster and playwright/performer. His theatre work includes Empire of the Son and One Hour Photo. Empire of the Son, sold out its run before it opened and was named the best show of 2015 by the Vancouver Sun and One Hour Photo was a finalist for the 2019 Governor General’s Award for Drama.
