Endowment Fund
The Nikkei Place Endowment Fund is a specific fund that will ensure the vibrant programs, services, events and operational costs of Nikkei Place are always met.
If we can reach our goal of $10,000,000, the annual interest generated could enable us to connect and enrich the lives of our vast community — from children and families to seniors alike — for generations to come.
Investing in Perpetuity: Sustaining Good
Contributions made to the Nikkei Place Foundation Endowment Fund will help create a permanent source of income for Nikkei Place to ensure our good work in the community continues in perpetuity.
If you choose to contribute, your will be helping our community continue to grow and inspire future generations for a better Canada.

Archives, Education and Exhibits
The Nikkei National Museum works daily to honour, preserve, and share Japanese culture and Japanese Canadian history and heritage. They employ a team of specialized staff who annually process hundreds of artefacts, provide educational outreach, and curate exhibits that share our history in fresh and inspiring ways.

Cultural Programs and Special Events
Nikkei Centre is a multi-use facility run by the Nikkei National Musuem & Cultural Centre. It offers a variety of Japanese cultural programs and special events throughout the year for every age and interest. It is also home to a museum, dojo, convenience store, and Japanese garden.
Every summer, Nikkei Matsuri is hosted at Nikkei Centre — one of the largest Japanese festivals in Canada! It’s a unique 2-day experience that brings all of the elements of an authentic ‘matsuri’ (festival) in Japan to our backyard here in Burnaby. Proceeds raised support Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre.
Nikkei Seniors Health Care and Housing Society cares for seniors
Making a donation to Nikkei Seniors Health Care and Housing Society provides immediate impact for seniors
You can help seniors live, laugh, and age gracefully in place by making a donation to Nikkei Seniors Health Care and Housing Society.
Independence, Respect, Dignity, Privacy, and Choice are the five cornerstones of adulthood that are too often forgotten when the time comes to face the changes in lifestyle that are a natural part of aging. While many seniors maintain a degree of independence well into their later years, there comes a time when some level of support is needed—with the need generally increasing over time.
Supportive Housing at Nikkei Place
At Nikkei Place, two seniors’ residences (operated by Nikkei Seniors Health Care and Housing Society) provide housing options for seniors with varying degrees of independence.
Nimi Nikkei Home is an assisted living apartment building for residents aged 55+. While residents have a large degree of independence in day-to-day living, trained, qualified staff offer personal support and care 24 hours a day.
New Sakura-so is a housing complex for independent seniors aged 55+, who are able to care for themselves without supervision.
Keeping Seniors Engaged + Connected
Seniors at Nikkei Place have easy access to events, programs, and services at the Kenko Wellness Lounge and Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre, homestyle Japanese food, groceries and snacks at the Suzuya convenience store, and a beautiful Japanese-style garden.
