Mission & Values

Our mission at Nikkei Place Foundation is to ensure the future of Nikkei Place — a unique campus that not only shares the history, heritage and culture of the Nikkei (Japanese Canadian) community through diverse programs, events, and exhibits, but also supports the care of seniors. We honour our Japanese Canadian community’s legacies and believe it is important to inspire the potential of the next generation for a better Canada.

As the charitable fundraising office for Nikkei Place, we are the bridge that connects philanthropy with Nikkei history, arts, culture, community, and senior care. We fundraise and promote philanthropy throughout the year, and continually work to build the Nikkei Place Endowment Fund, which will ensure Nikkei Place can be self-sustaining in perpetuity.

We receive and manage various types of donations, and exclusively disburse funds and property to our Nikkei Place partner charities — Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre and Nikkei Seniors Health Care and Housing Society.
