Nikkei Place Foundation is a charitable fundraising organization for the “Nikkei Place” Japanese Canadian community.

Together with our partners, Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre (NNMCC) and the Nikkei Seniors Health Care and Housing Society (Nikkei Seniors), we make up Nikkei Place.

Our Mission

We aim to promote philanthropy through meaningful partnerships with donors, and increase current and future support to build the Nikkei Place Endowment Fund. This fund is meant to support in perpetuity the programs and activities being run at Nikkei Place.

At Nikkei Place we work with a diverse demographic, from young children and families to seniors, to build a strong and vibrant community that is shared with all.

We remember and preserve heritage and culture, we celebrate the present with activities for every age and interest and we help shape the future of Canada, drawing on values passed on to us from our Japanese Canadian ancestors.

Our Partners

The Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre is a leading Japanese Canadian organization dedicated to the needs of Japanese Canadians and new immigrants, and sharing in the cultural landscape we are a part of.

The NNMCC runs Nikkei Centre, a place that provides people of all ages the chance to discover Nikkei history and culture. They provide educational programs, museum and archival services, and a wide variety of cultural programs (such as Tea Ceremony, Kimono Dressing, and various martial arts classes) and events (such as Nikkei Matsuri, Celebrate Spring, and Mochitsuki). Nikkei Centre is community meeting ground for all to enjoy, with many things to take part in throughout the year.

Nikkei Seniors Health Care and Housing Society owns and operates two seniors care facilites: Nikkei Home (Assisted Living) and New Sakura-so (Independent Living).

At Nikkei Seniors, they provides a tailored and culturally sensitive environment for seniors at every stage of aging. They have found that experiences make the difference; They are changing the aging experience into one that is both positive and enriching by providing programs and health care services that engage seniors on a social, educational and communal level.
