Feels like family

Meet Ribeka.

Ribeka is a Special Events Assistant at Nikkei Place Foundation, and a Tourism & Management student at Capilano University. She represents the next generation of Nikkei whose multi-faceted identities add to the strength and resilience of our ever-growing community.

Where is “home” for you?

“My childhood home is Nairobi, Kenya. Originally, my parents are from Tokyo and Kameyama, Mie, Japan. Now, I call East Vancouver home.”

We asked her “what do you love best about Nikkei Place?”

“It’s a place to unite everyone. A place that’s community-driven and a second home, where we can come together and feel like family.”
