It’s a new year, and we’re looking ahead

Happy New Year!

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to travel to Copenhagen, Denmark and participate in a conference to present some of my work surrounding the Nikkei community. During my stay, I made time to visit the Danish Jewish Museum – a small museum in a converted boathouse in one of the oldest neighborhoods in Copenhagen. The exhibition reflected Jewish life in Denmark for the past 400 years and the impact this small community has made on the nation. While our Nikkei history is not as lengthy, I was able to imagine the future possibilities for Nikkei Place.
Over the past six months as the Executive Director of the Nikkei Place Foundation, I have had many opportunities to meet with many of you – our long-time supporters, donors and volunteers in our community. I am grateful for the openness and warmth you have extended to me. In this new year, I will continue to work with you and work towards identifying both our strengths and challenges while identifying future opportunities for Nikkei Place.
There is more work that we can do and I hope you will commit your energies and resources to the Nikkei community. Our goal at the Nikkei Place Foundation is not simply to raise more money. Our goal is to help build a strong and vibrant Nikkei community while working towards sustaining our legacy into future generations. To make an impact in 2018, please consider making a gift and leave your legacy with the Foundation by visiting
